Let me (Kelly) recommend a website that is guaranteed to bring you much joy and laughter. "Guess the Dictator/Sitcom Character" provided me with countless hours of procrastination-induced entertainment during my freshman year at Pepperdine. That was also the year when I spent lots of time downloading songs from Napster, until my conscience and the American court system convinced me that it wasn't a good idea. Fortunately for all of us, "Guess the Dictator..." is a perfectly legal means of enternainment. Enjoy!

Well, We Both Married Carpenters
As many of you know, Mark was lucky enough to marry into the Carpenter clan. What you may not know is that I got lucky and married a carpenter too. The difference, of course, is that he married the same kind of Carpenter as the sentimental 70's band who sang about birds and feelings. The carpenter I married, however, was more of a Jesus-style carpenter.
Since we've been in Japan, my talented husband has made a counter/shelf for our kitchen, a desk/storage space for our bedroom, a baby bed (NOT for us, but for our friends--if you'd like to see pics of cute little Stone lounging in it, go here: http://www.theljs.com/pics/august/August%2028th,%202005/), a desk for our friend Gavin, and, the newest addition to our furniture family...a bed! As of last night, we no longer sleep on the floor! It wasn't the floor that was getting to us so much as the dirt, so now we feel clean when we wake up each morning.
We'll post pictures of the bed soon, but let me describe the genius of it. Our apartment consists of two main rooms which are separated by removable paper doors. When we take the doors out, we have one big dining room/entertainment space. Not wanting to sacrifice this handy feature of our apartment, Mark made our bed so that it can be easily taken apart and stored when we need to use our bedroom as a living room. He made spent so much time carefully chiseling each post and slat. And now, I wake up not only feeling cleaner and slightly less Japanese, but I also remember how blessed I am to have found me a carpenter for life.
